Hello, I’m Megan and I’m a reporter covering small business, entrepreneurship, labor, and the workplace for KCRW in Los Angeles. My work also appears nationally on Marketplace, and NPR’s Morning Edition and All Things Considered.
Before this current gig, I was a freelancer reporting on environmental justice, elections and wildfires for NPR, the warehouse and logistics industry for KVCR-FM in San Bernardino, and science and technology for WUOT in Knoxville, TN. I’ve also written about the environment for Southern California News Group and Southerly magazine. When I’m not reporting I’m hiking and eating my way through greater Los Angeles.
I've lived in NYC and Knoxville, TN, and am now back home in Los Angeles. In another life, I was a professional pole vaulter, but that's a long story.
What I’ve been up to in 2024:
Produced a non-narrated interview project exploring what it takes to “make it” in LA. The series features intimate, first-person stories from Southern Californians trying to answer that for themselves (Ongoing: July-September 2024).
Investigated allegations of wage theft at two popular Culver City eateries owned by an acclaimed restauranteur.
Followed the character performers’ campaign to unionize Disneyland Resort in Anaheim.
Received a 2024 Edward R. Murrow Award (Region 2, Radio Large Market, Hard News) for “Catalytic Converter thefts make LA County a ‘hotspot.’
